The leader was shot at by two unidentified assailants in the early hours of Monday, around 1 am. The incident occurred in the Malegaon city area, where Malik was outside a restaurant along the Mumbai Agra highway.

The attackers fired multiple shots at him before fleeing the scene. The AIMIM leader was taken to a Nashik hospital for further treatment.

The police have launched an investigation to catch the assailants.

As per media reports, Malik sustained three bullet wounds, with injuries on the left side of his chest, left thigh, and right hand.
