AI Chatbot ChatGPT Unable To Clear UPSC Exams: Report

New Delhi: According to media reports on Saturday, OpenAI’s AI chatbot ChatGPT has failed to clear the Indian Civil Services exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which is one of the toughest exams in the world.

Launched in November 2022, this chatbot has gained immense popularity. It has also passed several exams in the US including the US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and other MBA exams. It also managed to clear the Google Coding Interview for Level 3 Engineers. ,ALSO READ: Government not in ‘crazy rush’ to sell everything: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman,

The magazine asked ChatGPT all 100 questions of UPSC Prelims 2022 Question Paper 1 (Set A). “Only 54 of them were answered correctly by ChatGPT,” it reported.

Even though ChatGPT’s knowledge is limited to September 2021, questions on current events were not answered properly. However, ChatGPT also provided incorrect answers for non-time-specific topics such as economy and geography.

ChatGPT is designed to generate human-like writing by predicting incoming word sequences. Unlike most chatbots, ChatGPT cannot search the Internet. Instead, it generates text using word relationships inferred by its internal processes.

According to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, “ChatGPT is incredibly limited but good enough at some things to create an illusory impression of greatness.”

Apart from the UPSC exams, ChatGPT also reportedly failed miserably in an exam meant for Class VI students in Singapore.
