“Inquiries and talks with the representatives of the Defense Expo have already started. During the previous editions of the Expo in Goa and Lucknow, the ADR was around Rs 30,000 per room per night.”
Industry players said room charges are expected to range between Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 per night per night during these dates. In fact, in the absence of direct international air connectivity to Ahmedabad from many destinations, hoteliers are expecting rooms to fill up a few days before the event from March 9.
Deep Preet Bindra, General Manager, Courtyard By Marriott, Ramdevnagar said, “With such a surge in demand, the city hotels are expected to be completely sold out on the dates of the Expo.”
“This will provide a big cushion to hotels in the city. Major delegations are expected to attend the summit and hotels across the city are flooded with room inquiries during these dates.”
Defense manufacturers, subsidiary company representatives, embassy representatives, foreign government representatives and Indian government officials will be visiting Ahmedabad for the expo.
Narendra Somani, president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Gujarat, said: “We are hopeful it will bring big business but the COVID-19 situation needs to be closely monitored.” He added: “The inquiries are definitely good and we are expecting good business these days.”
State government sources have also hinted at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held in January next year. However, the dates have not been finalized yet.
