As the municipal elections in Delhi are approaching, political parties have stepped up their campaign and former North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash has launched a door-to-door garbage collection drive in the Sadar Bazar area.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Nagar Sadar Paharganj, Rajesh Goyal, former councilor Arvind Garg and other dignitaries were present. A rally was also taken out to make citizens aware in this regard.

Jai Prakash said that a waste collection and management project has been started from Sadar Bazar area under which 20 auto tippers have been flagged off for wet and dry waste collection. He said that making the country healthy and clean is the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following his vision, a series of cleanliness drives have been undertaken in the national capital. During this rally the citizens were made aware of the segregation of wet and dry waste and its benefits. This awareness rally lasted for about three km. He said that auto tippers and other small vehicles would prove to be very helpful in collecting garbage in areas like Sadar Bazar.

He also appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the employees of the Corporation in maintaining cleanliness in the area.

The State Election Commission on Monday issued detailed guidelines on the model code of conduct for the upcoming municipal and cooperative elections. These guidelines have imposed several restrictions on campaigning of political parties keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic.

These restrictions include limiting the list of star campaigners to 10 and national/state parties giving equal opportunities to smaller parties.
