Harbhajan Singh claims that he is no longer in the current Australian team to compete with India

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh made a strong statement as he claimed that the current Australian team can no longer compete with Team India.

Pat Cummins’ team suffered a six-wicket defeat on Sunday, February 16 as they now trail 0-2 in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023, which India Succeeded in maintaining.

While the visitors dominated India on the second day as Nathan Lyon took five wickets, Rohit Sharma’s side were bundled out for 262 in reply to Australia’s 263 in their first innings.

While Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne put the visitors in the driving seat at stumps on the second day, the third day proved to be a nightmare for the Aussies.

Ravindra Jadeja picked up a seven-wicket haul as he rattled Australia’s batting line-up, which was looking toothless.

Harbhajan, while talking to India Today, revealed that the Australian media and players were lost even before the start of the first Test match.

He said, ‘I think even before this series, the Australian players showed their mentality. He was very worried about pitches and Ashwin. They were defeated even before the start of the game in Nagpur. The first match didn’t do any harm to his confidence. Even the second game was over in two and a half days. He should look at himself in the mirror and ask whether he has done enough,” said the veteran spinner.

While Harbhajan added that the pitches at both Nagpur and Delhi are intriguing, even on a good surface, he predicted India to dominate Australia.

He said, in the second Test match, the ball was not spinning much but it was staying low. This is where you have to plan to bat when it doesn’t bounce much. I don’t think this Australian team has the ability to compete with Team India. Even on a good track, I think India will beat them well,” the 42-year-old said.

India and Australia are the two most likely teams to reach the final along with World Rohit’s recent dominance augurs well for the team in the Test Championship (WTC) to be held at The Oval in June, however, a lot could change in the coming months.
