VADODARA: After two inmates of Vadodara Central Jail alleged that they were thrashed by the jail authorities, as a result of which they were admitted to the hospital, the jail authorities filed a complaint against the three inmates at the Raopura police station.
According to jail officials, three undertrials, Prakash Rajput, Chirag Pandya and Krunal Solanki, lodged in Yard 12 of the jail, misbehaved with the jail staff on Friday afternoon when they were asked to go back inside their barracks.
Prisoners are allowed outside their barracks between 8 a.m. and noon. On Friday around noon, when the jail cops went to lock the prisoners in the barracks, all three abused them. When the soldiers forced them to go inside their barracks, the prisoners had an argument with the staff, during which the soldiers’ uniforms were torn.
Later, Pandya provokes Rajput and beheads him with an iron plank of the barracks. After this Rajput was asked to get himself admitted in the hospital. He alleged that the jail personnel assaulted him. Due to the scuffle, other inmates of the jail also gathered, threatening the security of the premises.
However, other soldiers of the jail were sent to 12 yards and the situation was brought under control. Even when Rajput was being taken away, he threatened a jail constable.
