After the cabinet reshuffle, Kiren Rijiju took over the important law ministry

Kiren Rijiju, who was elevated to the rank of cabinet minister during PM Narendra Modi’s overhaul of his council of ministers on Wednesday, 7 July, has been made the new law and justice minister.

Prior to the cabinet reshuffle, Rijiju was serving as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs as well as Minister of State for Minority Affairs and AYUSH Departments.

Rijiju, who holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law, Delhi University, was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014. He was re-elected as an MP from Arunachal Pradesh West constituency in 2019.
