After defection, AAP dissolves Himachal Pradesh Working Committee, BJP laughs

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party, which is eyeing more states this year after its victory in Punjab, on Monday dissolved its Himachal Pradesh working committee, where elections are due later this year.

AAP’s Himachal Pradesh election in-charge Satyendar Jain informed about the party’s decision on Twitter and said that the new state working committee would be reconstituted soon.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party saw the resignation of many of its leaders from the hill state, including its women’s wing chief Mamta Thakur, who later joined the BJP.

Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur took a jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after its state leaders joined the BJP, saying its chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should be able to organize his party in Himachal Pradesh. It would be difficult to save.

Last Friday, AAP Himachal Pradesh president Anoop Kesari, general secretary (organisation) Satish Thakur and Una district chief Iqbal Singh had joined the BJP in the national capital in the presence of its president JP Nadda and Thakur.

Trying to weed out defections from its state unit, the AAP had then said that it was going to sack them, claiming that all three leaders who joined the BJP were “tainted” and against Kesari for women. There was an allegation of indecent behavior.

Kesari criticized the AAP leadership for engaging in “character assassination” and alleged that they were “fake nationalists” and full of arrogance.

He and Mamata Thakur accused the AAP of ignoring party members in the state and lauded the BJP for its programmes.

Anurag Thakur, who hails from the state, said AAP was so shocked by its leaders leaving the party that it has started leveling allegations of insulting them including women.

“Kejriwal had thought of forming the government in the state, but he is finding it difficult to save his party’s organisation,” he said.
