Visva Bharati University has also faced such felony, it said in a press release. After the university announced the offline exam last month, a section of students had protested the demand to conduct the exam in online mode. This led to agitation on the campus and the registrar of the university had to resign.

The university said that when the help of police and administration was sought, no one paid heed. It said that a part of the Visva Bharati fence was also broken and the names of the culprits could not be found. It further stressed that with the support provided to Aaliyah University, they are now hopeful that the state government will take action for them as well.

In this way, the government has shown hope to Visva Bharati University and is confident that the police will come to their colleague next time, the university said. It said that in future when such incidents happen on the university grounds, it hopes that the government will help them as well.

In the case of Alia University, Ghiyasuddin Mandal and his associates allegedly abused the VC while some employees threw a circle around them. The abusers stayed in his office for a few hours and threatened to return if the PhD list was not amended. Mandal was expelled by the Trinamool Congress student council. TMCP state president Trinankur Bhattacharya said that he was thrown out of the body of students a few years ago for physically torturing them inside and outside the campus.
