aero india show 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of Asia’s largest aero show- ‘Aero India 2023,– in Bengaluru today (February 13). The five-day event will focus on showcasing indigenous equipment/technologies and forging partnerships with foreign companies.
The Prime Minister also released a commemorative postage stamp in Bengaluru. The theme of Aero India 2023 is “The Runway to a Billion Opportunities”. The ‘CEO Round Table’ chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will be held on the theme ‘Sky is the Limit: Opportunities Beyond Boundary’ on Monday.
“The Prime Minister’s emphasis on self-reliance in the Indian defense sector will also be on display, as the event will showcase the country’s progress in design leadership, growth in the UAV sector, defense space and future technologies. In addition, the event will promote the export of indigenous air Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) – platforms like Tejas, HTT-40, Dornier Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH).
The event will also help integrate domestic MSMEs and start-ups into the global supply chain and attract foreign investment including partnerships for co-development and co-production.
How many countries will participate in Aero India Show 2023,
Aero India 2023 will see participation from over 80 countries. Ministers from around 30 countries and 65 CEOs from global and Indian OEMs are likely to participate in Aero India 2023. The Aero India 2023 exhibition will see the participation of over 800 defense companies, including around 100 foreign and 700 Indian companies. Indian companies participating in the exhibition include MSMEs and start-ups, which will showcase the advancement of niche technologies, and growth in aerospace and defense capabilities in the country.

According to the Defense Ministry, the five-day event will broadcast the rise of a strong and self-reliant ‘New India’ by showcasing India’s growth in aerospace and defense capabilities. The focus will be on showcasing indigenous equipment or technologies and forging partnerships. With foreign companies in line with the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision for a secure and prosperous future.
What Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said:
Addressing a curtain raiser press conference in Bengaluru on Sunday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that Aero India 2023 will showcase the country’s manufacturing capability and the progress made towards realizing the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ envisioned by the Prime Minister. Contribute to the development of aerospace and aviation sector,” he said. Singh said February 13 to 15 will be business days, while February 16 and 17 have been earmarked as public days so that people can visit the show.
What will be the events in ‘Aero India Show 2023’:
The program includes Defense Ministers’ Conference; a CEO roundtable; brainstorm start-up program; binding function; breath-taking air shows; a large exhibition; India Pavilion and a trade fair of aerospace companies. Held over a total area of about 35,000 sqm at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, the event is the largest ever, with 98 countries expected to participate. 73 CEOs from global and Indian OEMs are expected to participate in the event. Eight hundred and nine (809) defense companies, including MSMEs and start-ups, will showcase advancements in niche technologies and developments in the aerospace and defense sector,” the ministry said. Singh described the record of international partnerships as a reflection not only of India’s buyer-seller relationships with various countries, but also of their shared vision of global prosperity.
Relevance IN of ‘Aero India Show 2023’:
Raksha Mantri emphasized that Aero India 2023 will provide a new impetus to the Government’s efforts to create a vibrant and world-class domestic defense industry to achieve the goal of ‘self-reliance’ in defense along with the overall development of the country. Will do “A strong and self-reliant defense sector will play a key role in helping India emerge as one of the top three world economies in the times to come. Achievements in the defense sector provide wide-ranging benefits to the Indian economy. Technologies developed in the field of civil are equally useful for the purposes. Defense Ministers Conference:
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also host the Defense Ministers’ Conference on 14 February. Defense Ministers of friendly countries will participate in the meeting, which has been organized under the theme ‘Shared Prosperity through Enhanced Connectivity in Defense (SPEED)’.
Conclave Capacity building (through investment, R&D, joint ventures, co-development, co-production and provision of defense equipment), training, cooperation to develop space, artificial intelligence (AI) and maritime security together Will address aspects related to deepening , The Conclave is an opportunity for Defense Ministers to engage with each other to take forward the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ vision.
Singh termed the defense ministers’ conference as a very important event, which he said would justify its theme by imparting ‘speed’ to growing defense cooperation with friendly countries. Several bilateral meetings will be held on the sidelines of Aero India between Defense Ministers, Ministers of State for Defence, Chiefs of Defense Staff and Defense Secretaries. Manthan, the annual defense innovation event, will be the major technology showcase event to be held. On 15 February. Being organized by Innovation for Defense Excellence (iDEX), the brainstorming platform will bring together leading innovators, start-ups, MSMEs, incubators, academia and investors from the defense and aerospace ecosystem under one roof.
Defense Minister will preside over the programme. The ‘India Pavilion’ based on the theme ‘Fixed Wing Platform’ will showcase India’s development in the field including future prospects. There will be a total of 115 companies displaying 227 products. It will showcase India’s development in developing an ecosystem for fixed wing platforms including display of various structural modules, simulators, systems (LRUs) etc. of the LCA-Tejas aircraft manufactured by private partners. There will also be a section for defense space
New technologies and a UAV segment that will give an insight into India’s growth in each sector. The full scale LCA-Tejas aircraft in Full Operational Capability (FOC) configuration will take center stage at the India Pavilion.
