Gurgaon: The state education department By issuing a notification on Saturday, all private schools have been directed to start the admission process of eligible students under the economically weaker section.EWSCategory under Rule 134A of Haryana School Education Rules. The department has also directed all district and block education officers to create awareness among students and ensure maximum registration through its dedicated online portal 134a-hr.in.

“The online portal started for admission under Rule 134A is now live and all eligible students are requested to submit their applications along with all relevant documents by November 14,” a letter issued by Directorate of School Education Reading.
The department has also released the eligibility criteria for admission. As per the list, students of classes 10 and 12 will not be part of EWS admission, and only students of classes 2 to 9, and 11 can apply.
It further states that only those students who are currently studying in government or private schools in Haryana and who have been issued a Student Registration Number (SRN) will be eligible for admission. It states that applicants will also have to provide proof of family income stating that the annual income is less than or equal to Rs 2 lakh per annum.
“The student can select a maximum of 15 schools – 10 within the block of their residence and five outside. While submitting the application, students need to submit their birth certificate, Aadhar card details, SRN number, and BPL card or income proof attested by Tehsildar. After the application process, the list of shortlisted students for the evaluation exam to be held on November 21 will be released by the office of the District Block Officer. If seats remain vacant, a second draw will also be held,” said an education department official.
Earlier, the High Court had dismissed a petition filed by private school associations, seeking a stay on the state’s order for fresh admissions for EWS students. All India Parents Association (AIPA) national general secretary Kailash Sharma said, “Private schools were protesting that the state government had issued the admission notification in the middle of the academic session. But the court said that schools have an obligation to keep 10% of their seats vacant for admission and allow the education department to go ahead with the admission process.
