“This is nothing but another blatant attempt by Google to evade its obligation under law and while Google claims that these changes are clearly in response to regulatory developments, the said changes are in violation of the measures mentioned in the CCI order gross violation,” ADIF said.

Google’s move is in “clear violation” of a specific CCI directive that the company shall not impose any condition (including price condition) on app developers that is unfair, unreasonable, discriminatory or inconsistent with the services to be provided by the app. Developers.

“Moreover, there is no transparency as to why Google would charge 11-26 per cent even when the user avails a third-party processing service. This becomes even more problematic considering that most of the transactions done in the app digital ecosystem do not use GPBS (Google Play Billing System),” it said.
