Mumbai Police recently arrested a 24-year-old thug who allegedly duped a Bengali actor by claiming to be a casting director in Bollywood. The thugs had clicked semi-nude pictures of the actor and then threatened to make them public.
Police reports say that the youth has been identified as Om Prakash Tiwari (24). Tiwari has allegedly cheated several others in the past and this is not the first time he has committed such a crime.
He reportedly used to do photoshoots for the young and vulnerable, saying that he would get them a job in a Netflix web series. Later, he threatened to make the photo viral.
He had contacted the actor on Facebook in December 2021. After that, he invited her to come to Mumbai. He then did nude photoshoots of the actor in the name of audition and later started blackmailing him by taking him hostage with the threat that he would leak the pictures online.
It is being told that the victim is a resident of Kolkata. Earlier he had worked in many Bengali films. She had moved to Mumbai hoping to land a role in a web series.
The actor complained to the Malad Police. According to the FIR, Tiwari has been charged under IPC 345A and 67A. The police arrested the man within 48 hours of the complaint. Further investigation is on to ascertain the identity of others who may have cheated in a similar manner.
