Mumbai Police on Tuesday registered a case against Indo-Canadian Rajat Bedi Bollywood And the television producer caused a serious accident for alleged speeding and reckless driving. The incident happened on Monday evening when Bedi was driving along the busy Setaldevi Mandir Road in Andheri West and suddenly rammed a local slum dweller, identified as 39-year-old Rajesh Boudh.
While the victim was undergoing treatment at the Cooper Hospital in Mumbai, it is now learned that he has died due to injuries sustained during the accident. In the case, the victim died late on Tuesday night and due to this the police filed a fresh charge in the FIR under Section 304-A of the IPC. This section deals with the accused causing death by negligence.
Bedi’s manager told ETimes, “In an unfortunate incident, though it was not Rajat’s fault as he was driving really slow. Mr. Rajesh suddenly came in front of Rajat’s car. Near Andheri West metro station. He was completely intoxicated. After the accident Rajat himself immediately took him to Cooper Hospital and provided him all possible help and support, arranged blood at 3.30 pm and supported his family. Sadly he passed away. Done.”
On the day of the accident, after hitting the victim, Bedi stopped her car, picked her up and took her to the nearby RN Cooper Hospital for treatment, where her condition was stated to be stable but critical.
Later, the actor went to DN Nagar police station and reported the incident, stating that the victim was allegedly in an inebriated state and suddenly came in front of his vehicle. A police officer said that the police were checking CCTVs in the vicinity and trying to speak to eyewitnesses who could corroborate Bedi’s claims.
Bedi is best known for playing a terrorist in the Sunny Deol-starrer Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Koi…Mil Gaya, and as Hrithik Roshan’s son-noir in other films.
