Actor Puneeth Rajkumar to be conferred with Karnataka Ratna award posthumously

Chennai: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said that the Karnataka government has decided to confer the Karnataka Ratna award on late actor Puneeth Rajkumar. The Chief Minister made the announcement during a condolence program to mark the life and contribution of Puneeth to the Kannada film industry. The program “Puneet Namana” was organized on Tuesday at the Palace Ground in Bangalore.

Many political leaders and film stars telecast the event live on television at the event.

During the event, Bommai said on Twitter, “The State Government has decided to honor Late Shri” #punitrajkumar Posthumously with the Karnataka Ratna Award. ,

A Times of India report said the Karnataka government’s highest civilian honor has been conferred on nine achievers in the last three decades and Puneeth Rajkumar will be the second person from the Kannada industry to receive the award after his father, Dr Rajkumar.

Actor Puneeth Rajkumar, who starred in at least 29 films in the Kannada film industry, passed away at the age of 46 after suffering a cardiac arrest in Bengaluru. On October 29, Puneet complained of chest pain and was rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru, but a major attack took his life.

Puneet was cremated with full state honors on October 31, two days after his death. Several important leaders, celebrities and the public paid tribute to him at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru over two days.

Popularly known as Appu and Power Star, Puneet has worked in films like Appu, Abhi, Akash, Ajay and Anjani Putra.
