New Delhi, November 12 (IANS) | A junior level employee of East Delhi Municipal Corporation has been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty. Mayor of East Delhi Shyam Sundar Agarwal also said in a statement that necessary instructions have been issued in this regard.
A statement issued by the EDMC quoted Agarwal as saying that a ‘beldar’ has been suspended for “negligence in duty”. He said that corruption and dereliction of duty will not be tolerated in EDMC.
He said that the employee allegedly masqueraded as a junior engineer and used to threaten people and extort money. The mayor said that if the junior engineer’s complicity is found in this, then action will be taken.
Meanwhile, EDMC Leader of Opposition Manoj Kumar Tyagi held a press conference on Friday and alleged that people were not being allowed to use the Mayor’s helpline properly. He called the helpline in front of media persons and claimed that on many occasions people are not given proper answers.
Tyagi alleged that many BJP leaders are indulging in corruption in the corporation. That’s why people’s voices are not being heard.
