The film industry is filled with such names, once regarded as the most influential of their time. Their own lives ended up becoming cruel to them, rendering them helpless with family and love. Such is the story of veteran Pakistani actress Meena Shorey, whose life took a turn for the worse.

Meena Shorey was born in Punjab, of the undivided India, as Khurshid Begum. Belonging to a poor family, she was the second of the four siblings. As per the information, after her sister got married to a prominent family in Mumbai, she moved to the city with her. Her sister wanted to find a good match for her marriage.

Debut and Struggles:

So, when she went to a film launch with her sister and brother-in-law, she was spotted by filmmaker Sohrab Modi, whose film Sikandar was the one being launched. The reports state that the filmmaker was so impressed by her beauty, that he decided to cast her in the film. She was cast as Aambi, the sister of Taxila King, in Sikandar.

The film was released to become a big success, propelling Meena to stardom. She received numerous offers from big filmmakers. However, because of certain contractual obligations with Sohrab Modi, she could not go forth with her opportunities. As per more reports, she was later released from the contract after settlement.

Turbulent Marriages:

Her first marriage was to filmmaker-actor Zahur Raja. They met during the filming of Sikandar, the reports state. The actress then married actor and co-star Al Nasir. The two decided to separate by mid-40s.

For the third time, she was married to Roop K Shorey, who gave her the name Meena Shorey. Their union lasted for 7 to 8 years. The two parted ways when Meena visited Pakistan and decided to stay there while Roop returned to India.

For her fourth union, she married Raza Mir, a Pakistani cinematographer and producer. Her fifth and final marriage was to Asad Bokhari, who was her co-star in the 1962 release Jamalo.

In her later years, Meena faced financial and economic difficulties. On February 9, 1989, she passed away. Going by the reports, her funeral expenses were covered through donations.
