Acidity bothering you? Here are some foods and lifestyle tips to help ease it.

Acidity is the result of excessive secretion of acids in the gastric glands due to various reasons.

Acidity is a big problem for many people. Our food intake, overeating and sleep disturbances can all add up to stomach related issues such as growling, cramps and of course, acidity. While working on changing your lifestyle, one can start by including certain foods that can help in overcoming acidity issues.

Nutritionist and Ayurvedic doctor Juhi Kapoor shares some foods that should be included in your daily diet to overcome the problem of acidity.

“In most cases, acidity is a by-product of a poor lifestyle. If you sleep in late, eat at odd hours, overeat at most meals – you will definitely become a slave to antacids,” she said.

Reports suggest that acidity is a result of excessive secretion of acid in the gastric glands, especially due to highly spicy food or long gap between two meals.

Here are three foods that can help solve the problem of acidity:

bananaStart your day with a banana, which in turn will “take away half of your acidity concerns”.

Seed of tulsi: Make it a habit! Soak 2 tbsp sabja seeds in at least a glass of water and drink it. Basil seeds are cooling in nature and help in reducing the problem of acidity. “Avoid it during menstruation or if you have a cold/cough,” Kapoor said.

coconut water: Kapoor said that drinking a glass of coconut water at 11 in the morning reduces the problem of acidity.

Some lifestyle changes that can help reduce acidity are:

  • small and frequent meals
  • Try and Avoid Too Much Protein
  • Eat only 2 to 3 non-vegetarian meals every week and no more
  • Don’t skip grains in your daily diet
  • walk at least 100 steps after each meal
  • Try sitting in Vajrasana
  • Think positive, happy vibes only!
