Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s much-awaited film Acharya released in theaters on April 29 and was a box office failure. Everyone had high expectations from the film because of the pre-release hype about the film. However, it caused huge losses to the filmmakers and distributors at the box office.
Post box office disaster; Many distributors wanted their money back from the manufacturers. The film was co-produced by Ram Charan’s Konidela Konidela Production Company in association with Matinee Entertainment. Some distributors had written to Chiranjeevi seeking his help to make up for their losses.
The filmmakers have already returned a major part of the amount to the distributors and exhibitors. Now, reports have surfaced that the film’s director Koratala Siva has reimbursed the distributors Rs 33 crore as a part of the final details.
Acharya was made with a budget of around Rs 140 crore. The film collected a net collection of a little over Rs 40 crore at the box office. According to reports, the film suffered a loss of more than Rs 84 crore in theatrical business.
Chiranjeevi, who recently returned from a trip to the United States, reportedly spoke to Shiva about the situation. Who bought the digital streaming rights of the film? amazon prime video and reportedly, the OTT giant is yet to make the final payment.
While the film’s producer Niranjan Reddy volunteered to bear the GST expenses, Chiranjeevi also agreed to return Rs 10 crore from his remuneration to cover the loss.
Shiva will soon start working on his next project with Jr NTR. According to reports, the RRR actor has asked the director to sort out the issues related to Acharya before starting his next film. The cast and crew of the film are yet to be officially announced.
