Delhi Municipal Corporation House was adjourned on Tuesday without electing mayor and deputy mayor amid uproar by some councillors.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday asked the BJP to accept its defeat in the MCD polls and help in the smooth conduct of the mayoral elections.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) house was adjourned on Tuesday without electing a mayor and deputy mayor amid uproar by some councillors.
After the oath of the leaders and elected councillors, the house was adjourned for 15 minutes, during which several BJP councilors chanted “Modi, Modi” in the house and raised slogans against AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
Sisodia, a senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), also accused the BJP of “running away from the mayoral election”.
Everyone has seen the drama of BJP. The public was fed up with his rule in MCD. Sisodia said, they gave mountains of garbage to Delhi and ruined the entire capital.
He said, “At first he avoided the MCD election and when the public showed him the door, he is running away from the mayoral election.”
He said that BJP should accept its defeat in MCD elections and ensure smooth election of Mayor.
BJP knows that your mayor will speed up the work which it could not do. He said that it is not democratic.
Sisodia said, “We demand that the MCD House be called again and the mayor’s election be held today itself.”
