New Delhi: India A began their Emerging Asia Cup campaign with an emphatic 8-wicket win over United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the SSC Ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Friday, July 14.

India’s captain Yash Dhull led from the front and scored an unbeaten century (108*) after a brilliant delivery from fast bowler Harshit Rana. Nikin Jose played an important supporting role along with Captain Dhull. The 22-year-old batsman scored an unbeaten 41.

After winning the toss, skipper Dhull chose to bowl first against Ashwanth Valthapa-led UAE, with right-arm pacer Rana being the pick of the bowler, taking 4 wickets (4/41). Andhra pacer Nitish Kumar Reddy (2/32) and slow left-arm orthodox Manav Suthar (2/28) also contributed with the ball as India ‘A’ bundled out UAE ‘A’ to 175 for 9 in 50 overs. Runs stopped.
India achieved the target by scoring 179 runs for the loss of two wickets in just 26.3 overs. Chasing 176, India lost Sai Sudarshan (8) and Abhishek Sharma (19) inside the sixth over when the scoreboard was 41, but Dhull (108 not out) and Nikin Jose (41 not out) Made 138 to ensure easy victory. India will face Nepal
India ‘A’ will next play Nepal on July 17 before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan ‘A’ in the final group game on July 19.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals to be played on July 21. The final will be held on 23 July.
