ABP News-CVoter UP Exit Poll 2022: BJP will retain power with lesser majority, SP gets lead

ABP-CVoter Exit Poll 2022: According to the ABP News-CVoter exit poll results, the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to retain Uttar Pradesh with a smaller margin as compared to 2017’s 312 seats.

ABP News-CVoter has predicted that BJP will win anywhere between 228-244 seats. Samajwadi Party will come second with 132-148 seats.

Despite the low-key campaign, Mayawati’s BSP will win 13-21 seats while the Congress will get 4-8 seats. The majority mark in the 403-member UP Assembly is 202.

Voting in the 403-member UP Assembly in seven phases began on February 10, while the seventh and last phase of polling was held on Monday, March 7. The Election Commission of India (ECI) will deliver the verdict on March 10.

During the 7 phases of UP elections, political parties left no stone unturned to woo the voters. In the election campaign, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) pitted against each other with their alliance partner RLD. Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and other parties also launched an aggressive campaign to make the fight multi-cornered in UP.

UP Assembly Election 2017

In the 2017 UP assembly elections, BJP came to power with a thumping majority. BJP managed to get 312 assembly seats on its own. The nearest runner-up was the SP led by Akhilesh Yadav. The SP was able to get only 47 assembly seats. Former CM Mayawati-led BSP won only 19 seats and Congress won 7 seats.

In the 2017 UP assembly election, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) secured 1 assembly seat, Apna Dal (Soneylal) got 9, Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal got 1, Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party won 4 and 3 independents were also winners.
