Abhishek to Appear Before CBI on Saturday Morning in School Jobs Case

TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to appear before the CBI at its Kolkata office on Saturday morning, as part of the agency’s probe into the school jobs scam.

While campaigning in Bankura, Banerjee had said on Friday that she was going back to Kolkata to answer the summons sent by the central probe agency.

“You are directed to appear before me on Saturday at 11 am,” said Banerjee’s letter sent by a Deputy Superintendent of CBI to Harish Mukherjee’s address.

Acknowledging in a tweet that she had received the summons, Banerjee had said, “irrespective of these incidents, I will try to serve the people… will continue.”

Later on Friday, the TMC leader and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in an impromptu speech delivered from the top of his vehicle, also challenged the central agency to arrest him if there is any evidence of corruption or malpractice against him, “I I challenge CBI. If they have any proof of corruption against me, then I should be arrested. He has been investigating many cases in Bengal for the last several years. If they have any evidence against me, they should arrest me, Abhishek said at a rally in Bankura.

On Thursday, the Calcutta High Court had dismissed a petition filed by Banerjee seeking recall of the court’s previous order directing probe agencies like the CBI and ED to investigate her in the teacher recruitment scam. Can inquire.

The TMC leader’s name had cropped up in a complaint filed by Kuntal Ghosh, one of the accused in the scam. Ghosh alleged that the central probe agencies were pressurizing him to name Abhishek Banerjee in the school scam case.

Attempts to get a bench on Friday and then the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court to hear his revision petition were unsuccessful.

The matter can now be taken up before a vacation bench of the High Court which will sit from Monday.
