Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ to Ram Charan-Jr NTR starrer ‘RRR’: Highest grossing Indian films worldwide

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR has been ruling the box office records since its release. The epic period action drama film has grossed around Rs 913 crore worldwide, Salman Khanof Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which collected Rs 969 crore. ‘RRR’ becomes 3rd highest grossing Indian film as per official records Rajinikanth‘2.0’ did a lifetime collection of Rs 800 crore (worldwide gross) at the box office. The top two movies are Dangal and Baahubali: The Conclusion, however, RRR may break their records in the coming days.

Domestically, RRR has maintained its firm grip on the ticket window against new releases. The total collection of RRR for 12 days is 198.09 crores. The SS Rajamouli-directed film earned 6.50 crores on Tuesday. Well, the film is set to enter the 200 crore club today. With Rajamouli’s Baahubali and RRR carving out a niche for themselves globally, here are the highest grossing Indian films across the globe:

Dangal (2008.30 crores)

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao, the film starred Bollywood actors Fatima Sana Shaikh, Zaira Wasim, Sanya Malhotra and Aamir Khan in lead roles. Released in 2016, the film became the fifth-highest-grossing non-English film and the highest-grossing Indian film of all time, earning the title of the highest-grossing sports film worldwide. The film won the Best Asian Film award at the 7th Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) last year.

Baahubali: The Conclusion (Rs 1810 cr)

Directed by SS Rajamouli, ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ featured Prabhas in the lead role and Rana Daggubati as the antagonist Bhallala Deva. Anushka Shetty Devasena, Ramya Krishnan starred as Sivagami, while Sathyaraj played the role of Katappa. Released in 2017, the film became the biggest hit in the history of Indian cinema. It did a global business of Rs 1810 crore, while the first film “Baahubali: The Beginning” opened in 2015 and grossed over Rs 685 crore.

RRR (approximately Rs 913 crore (12 days))

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR has been phenomenal at the box office ever since its release on March 25. The big budget drama starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR has maintained its strong hold at the ticket window. Magnum opus became India’s biggest opener with Rs 223 crore worldwide beating ‘Baahubali 2’ which had earned Rs 217 crore worldwide on its opening day. The film which is getting an overwhelming response will soon enter the Rs 200 crore club in India. RRR also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia BhattSamuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Alison Doody, and Ray Stevenson.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs. 969.06 crore)

Kabir Khan’s favorite film was praised for its sensitive portrayal of India-Pakistan relations, while retaining its sharp political commentary. Starring Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, Pawan, a Hanuman devotee who crosses paths with Munni, a mute girl from Pakistan, when she accidentally comes to India, Bajrangi Bhaijaan received immense love from the audience and appreciation from the critics. . The film went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian cinema.

Secret Superstar (Rs 965 cr)

starring Aamir Khan And Zaira Wasim, the Secret Superstar not only earned a decent amount of money at the domestic level but also globally. The success rate of Aamir Khan’s films in China is phenomenal. In comparison to India, apart from Dangal, Secret Superstar’s China performance seems surreal, which is still undeniable. Directed by Advait Chandan, “Secret Superstar” is based on the life of a teenage girl named Insia, played by Zaira Wasim, who sets out under the captivity of oblivion to fulfill her dream of being a singing superstar.
