Mona Singh made her Bollywood debut with Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial venture 3 Idiots. She shared the screen space with Aamir Khan.

Actress Mona Singh has come a long way in showbiz. The actress has been part of some iconic projects and has proven her mettle with rich content-driven and commercial films. While she started her career on television, she has also conquered the movie and the OTT space. Having said that, one of her most memorable projects is Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial venture 3 Idiots.

Mona played the role of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s older sister in the film. The actress recently recollected filming the baby delivery scene in the film, where she had to slap Aamir Khan. The actress shared that, Aamir Khan asked her to slap him really hard.

The actress shared, “Pehle toh discussion yeh ho rha tha ki karna kya hai, Ami I supposed to like bite him, kick him, slap him or just say get out. Toh phir everybody was narrating their experience – meri wife ne yeh kiya, woh kiya, then we arrived at a conclusion ki Mona thappad maaregi.”

She added, “And knowing Aamir Sir, more than method [acting], he wants perfection, he wants it to look real. Toh unhone bola, Mona ek hi take karenge, aur zor se thappad marna/maar denge. Toh maina kaha theek hai, toh mai Sardarni full josh mein (laughs) and his bodyguard was standing behind and looking at the scene and then I asked, was it okay, he then nodded (shows thumbs up).”

Earlier while speaking with Humans Of Bombay, Mona had shared, she had a great time working on the film as none of the actors acted ‘starry’ on set. “All of the actors in that film were so grounded. They kept rehearsing with all of us. They kept saying, ‘Mona tum star ho. We love you.’ I was like, ‘Why isn’t anyone acting starry?’ Coming from a non-filmy background, we all have preconceived notions about every actor, but none of them were like that. They were all pranksters,” she said.
