With the recent changes made by the Government of India, people can now opt to change biometric and demographic details online instead of going through the hassle of locating and visiting an Aadhaar centre. All you need to do is visit the UIDAI website and enter the relevant details to change your address.

The UIDAI website enables Aadhaar users to perform a wide range of tasks under one umbrella. Not only your address, you can also change your age, name, gender and biometric details in a few clicks at any time through the website. Biometric information, such as mandatory biometric updates, can be done online for free, while demographic information such as name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number and an e-mail will cost users Rs 50. Similar charges are applicable for biometric update which does not come under mandatory category.

Here’s how you can update the address on your Aadhaar card

Phase 1: Visit the UIDAI web portal https://uidai.gov.in/ on your phone or computer. From here, click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ drop-down menu on the top left corner of the website

Phase 2: Once you reach the secondary page, click on ‘Update Demographic Data Online’ which appears from the drop-down menu on the top left corner under ‘Update Aadhaar Section’.

step 3: Click on the link ‘Proceed to update Aadhaar’ and input the required information in the box provided. Once done, enter your Aadhaar number and captcha as required. After filling the details, click on ‘Send OTP’ button and check your phone number with the registered phone number.

step 4: Once you receive the six-digit one-time password (OTP) on your phone, enter it.

Step 5: Then click on the option ‘Demographic Data’. Now you can update the relevant information according to you.

Step 6: Once you have completed filling the required fields, click on the ‘Proceed’ button.

Step 7: You will need to upload the scanned color copies of the verification documents to provide authenticity to your update request. In case of change of address, Proof of Address (PoA) needs to be provided.

Step 8: After all this you have to click on submit option. After this, he can also take a preview of the changes made. UIDAI will send you an Update Request Number (URN), using which you can check the status of the Aadhaar card update process.
