Step by Step Guide to Retrieve Lost Aadhar Number Online

As mentioned earlier, the only condition for getting your Aadhaar number online is that your mobile number should be already registered with Aadhaar. If you have already done it, take a look at the following steps.

1) To begin, visit the official website of UIDAI (https://resident.uidai.gov.in/) on your phone or computer.

2) Then, you should scroll down to the Aadhaar Service option to continue

3) After clicking on the option, go to the tab named ‘Recover Lost or Forgotten EID/UID’ from the current page.

4) Next, when you have successfully navigated to the specific page, click on the ‘Aadhaar Number (UID)’ bullet under the ‘Select Option’ section.

5) After this you need to enter your personal details like full name, mobile number and email address to continue.

6) Once this is done, verify the Captcha on the page.

7) Then click on ‘Send OTP’ button. Wait till the six digit One Time Password is received and enter it after receiving it. You will be able to retrieve your Aadhaar number on your email ID and/or mobile number in this way. A similar procedure can be followed in case you have lost your Aadhaar Enrollment ID.

If you do not have your number registered with Aadhaar, you are out of luck. Still, the Aadhaar number can be retrieved, the UIDAI website says. But for this you have to work extra hard.

“You can visit any UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendra to download your Aadhaar and get the printout. This service is available only on ASK operated by UIDAI. It will later be extended to other Aadhaar centers in banks, post offices, BSNL centers or state government offices,” according to the website. The reprinted Aadhaar will be delivered to your registered address within 15 days.
