Aadhar Card Update: How to Apply for Aadhar Card for Your Children sitting at home

Changes have been seen on Friday in the Aadhaar card of children below the age of five years. NS Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) released a tweet from its official Twitter account announcing the new changes. The new change introduces a blue color Baal Aadhaar card For children under five years old. The UIDAI also emphasized that it is mandatory for children of that age to update biometrics as well. The card contains biometric and demographic data which is collected and issued free of cost to children. The enrollment process for children is similar to that of adults and with new changes that UIDAI Brought to the platform, this enrollment can now be done both online and offline.

How do you apply for Bal Aadhar Card?

Phase 1: Visit the official UIDAI website and select the Aadhar Card Registration option.

Phase 2: As a parent, you will be required to fill in the required information such as your child’s name, guardian or parent’s phone number, and other biometric information relating to your child and yourself.

step 3: You will also need to fill in the demographic details. These include residential address, locality, state etc. Once all this is done, submit it and proceed.

step 4: Click on the ‘Appointment’ option so that you can schedule the registration for Aadhar card.

Step 5: Choose the nearest Enrollment Centre, fix your appointment and go there on the allotted date. You need to ensure that those supporting documents which are Proof of Identity (POI), Proof of Address (POA), Proof of Relationship (POR) and Date of Birth (DOB) documents. You will also need to carry your reference number which will be provided to you.

Step 6: Once you go to the center and verify all the documents with the Aadhar officer there. Biometric data will be taken if the child is five years old. For children under the age of five, no biometric data is needed, only demographic data and facial recognition are needed (ie, a photograph will be taken).

Step 7: After completion of the process applicant or parent will get an acknowledgment number to track the progress of their application. You will also receive an SMS on the registered mobile number within 60 days and given that everything goes well, the Bal Aadhar card should reach you within 90 days.

offline enrollment process

The offline process for enrollment is pretty much the same. The only difference here is that you will go directly to the Aadhaar Enrollment Center bypassing some additional online steps.

Phase 1: Visit the Aadhaar center, and make sure to carry all the verification documents with you. These documents are proof of identity (POI), proof of address (POA), proof of relationship (POR) and date of birth (DOB) documents for you and your child.

Phase 2: Inform the Aadhar officer there and they will give you a form to fill and submit. As mentioned above, once the verification is done, you will receive your child’s Bal Aadhar card within 90 days of approval.
