A Step-by-Step Process: Downloading Aadhaar Without Mobile Number

Phase 1: Visit the official website of UIDAI.

Phase 2: Select ‘My Aadhaar’ option from the home page. You can find it in the drop-down menu in the top-right corner of the page.

step 3: Once you are redirected to the ‘My Aadhaar’ section, click on the ‘Order Aadhaar Reprint’ option that appears on the screen.

step 4: In the next step you will need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or your 16-digit Virtual Identification Number (VID), which can be used in place of your Aadhaar card number.

Step 5: Once you complete that process, you will need to enter the security code.

Step 6: Considering that we want to explore the option to download the card without mobile number, you need to click on the option ‘My mobile number is not registered’.

Step 7: Then you have to enter your alternate number or unregistered mobile number.

Step 8: After this you have to click on the prompt that says ‘Send OTP’.

Step 9: Click on the ‘Terms and Conditions’ checkbox and finally, click on ‘Submit’. After completing all the above steps including authentication of your OTP, you will be redirected to a new page.

Step 10: A screen will appear with ‘Preview Aadhaar letter’ for further verification for reprint. You have to select the option ‘Make Payment’. Then you have to give your digital signature to download the PDF.

Step 11: At the end of the process, a service request number will be generated through SMS. You just need to use that number to track the status of your application till the Aadhaar letter is sent.

Benefits of SMS Option

With this option, the government aims to increase the level of competence for cardholders, especially those who do not have access to a smartphone or laptop. It is also aimed at a demographic that does not have access to the resident portal or mAadhaar app for that matter. It allows one to use various services related to Aadhaar such as Virtual ID (VID) generation or retrieval, Aadhaar locking and unlocking as well as biometric locking and unlocking. All this is achieved by sending an SMS from one’s registered phone number to the official helpline number 1947, which was set up by UIDAI.
