Smoke and flames rose from the Butler County wedding venue in the middle of a ceremony Sunday evening. Tanker trucks were brought in from several agencies for additional water to fight the fires at the Hanover Reserve on Millville Oxford Road. WLWT spoke to the wedding ceremony attendees when the fire broke out. He said it was an unbelievable sight with thick smoke spreading far beyond the venue and fire tenders lighting up the spot, he said. The flames went out. “Everyone evacuated the building and then, called the fire department,” Koblentz said. “It took maybe 20 minutes for them to come out.” Attendees say the couple is still married outside the building. “They got married and they’re doing fine,” Koblentz said. “But they too were shaken. Disappointed.” The wedding party said they were shocked but also grateful to the first responders battling the fire. “I definitely want to thank them for what they are doing. Giving their time and first responders and all that stuff. Staying inside can be really dangerous,” Koblenz said. The venue owner summarized us spoke. She was in tears and devastated. She told us the venue has been open since May. And weddings are booked for the next two years. WLWT spoke to people who attended the wedding ceremony when the fire broke out.

He said it was an unbelievable sight and thick smoke was spreading outside the venue and fire tenders were lighting the scene.

People said that they are just standing back and watching in shock.

“We’re just in awe. Yes. It’s crazy,” said Ben Koblentz, who attended the wedding.

Koblentz says that the fire broke out around 5 p.m. during the wedding, adding that someone lit a fire inside a propane fireplace, causing an explosion and then flames coming out of the chimney.

“Everyone evacuated the building and then, called the fire department,” Koblentz said. “It was probably 20 minutes by the time they came out.”

Attendees say the couple still got married outside the building.

“They got married and they’re doing fine,” Koblentz said. “But they too were shaken. Disappointed.”

The wedding party said they were shocked but also grateful for the first responders battling the fire.

“I definitely want to thank them for what they are doing. Taking their time and leaving first responders and all that stuff. It can be really dangerous inside,” Koblentz said.

The venue owner spoke to us briefly.

She was in tears and was devastated.

He told us that the venue is open only from May and the weddings have been booked for the next two years.

The state fire marshal will investigate the fire.
