Usha Uthup brought up the Kolkata Rape Case when she met Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud at CNN News18’s She Shakti event.

Veteran singer Usha Uthup crossed paths with Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud at CNN News18’s She Shakti conclave. While they chatted for a while, it has been revealed that Usha Uthup shot several questions at him. She asked him about his whereabouts and even questioned him about the Kolkata Rape case.

Money Control journalist Chandra R. Srikanth took to X and revealed, “Usha Uthup doesn’t pull punches. The moment she met CJI Chandrachud last evening she said, ‘What are you doing at an event? Why aren’t you in court? When are you announcing your decision on the Kolkata case? The entire world is watching.'” She added that Chandrachud played along. “CJI was a real sport,” she said.

In a video accessed by News18, Usha and the CJI were seen singing a song together.

For the unversed, Kolkata Rape Case has rocked the country. A doctor was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in the city on August 9. Three people have been arrested so far. A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud to investigate and deliver justice in the case. On Tuesday, Supreme Court resumed hearing its suo motu case.

The central agency had arrested officer in charge of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal, on September 14 for his alleged involvement in the rape and murder of the trainee doctor on August 9. On September 2, former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, was arrested in connection with financial irregularities at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Usha Uthup wasn’t the only Bollywood personality at the event. Other stars at the event were Kirron Kher, Sikander Kher, Bhumi Pednekar, Rasika Dugal and Shefali Shah.
