Amitabh Bachchan says yes to Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana.

Amitabh Bachchan has been reportedly roped in to play a pivotal part in Ranbir Kapoor headlined Ramayana.

Amitabh Bachchan will be reuniting with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time after Brahmastra. If reports are to be believed, Amitabh has been roped in for Nitish Tiwari’s Ramayana. It is claimed that Big B will be voicing the mythical character Jatayu in the film. It is also claimed that Ranbir will not only be playing the previously revealed role of Lord Rama but he will also be playing the role of Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu.

According to a Peeping Moon report, Ramayana will feature both the avatars of Vishnu, with the film exploring the challenges Parashuram will face before and after Lord Ram breaks Lord Shiva’s bow, Pinaka. “Parashuram’s role in the epic is brief but significant, and the filmmakers have ensured it reflects that,” a source told the publication. The makers plan to feature Ranbir in a never-before-seen avatar when he appears on the screen as Parashurama.

As for Amitabh’s part in the film, the report claimed that Jatayu will be created using VFX but the makers are including Amitabh’s powerful eyes to give a strong impact to the character. Although brief, Jatayu’s sacrifice plays a major part in the story of Ramayana. He died trying to save Goddess Sita from Ravana when he was taking her to Lanka.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana will see Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi as Ram and Sita respectively. The film is also likely to star Yash as Ravana. The actor is also co-producing the movie. “It has been my long-term aspiration to make films that will showcase Indian cinema on a global level. In pursuit of that, I was in L.A. to ally with one of the best VFX studios, and to my amazement, the driving force behind it was a fellow Indian. Namit and I had various ideation sessions, and coincidentally, our synergy on the vision for Indian cinema aligned perfectly. We brainstormed various projects, and during these discussions, the subject of ‘Ramayana’ came up. Namit had a part of it in the works,” Yash told Variety in April this year but did not mention anything about his role.

Ramayana will also star Arun Govil and Lara Dutta in key roles. Reportedly, the makers have also roped in Sunny Deol for the role of Hanuman. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now.
