Deepthi Jeevanji claimed the bronze medal in the women’s 400m T20 with a time of 55.82sec before the javelin throw and high athletes came through for the nation in late-night events.

The Indian contingent picked up five medals on Day 6 of the Paris Paralympics 2024 to take their overall tally to a highest-ever 20 as track and field athletes shone on Tuesday for the tricolour in the French Capital City.

Deepthi Jeevanji claimed the bronze medal in the women’s 400m T20 with a time of 55.82sec before the javelin throw and high athletes came through for the nation in late-night events.

Ajeet Singh and Sundar Singh Gurjar came in second and third in the men’s f46 Javelin throw event with best throws of 65.62m and 64.96m respectively, while Sharad Kumar and Mriyappan Thangavelu replicated their compatriots’ feat in the t63 high jump event with efforts of 1.88m and 1.85m respectively.

  • Para Shooting: Women’s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 (Qualification) – Avani10 Lekhara finished seventh with a score of 1159 to earn progress to the final of the event, while Mona Agarwal came in 13th with 1149 points to her name and missed out on qualification to the medal round.
  • Para Athletics: Women’s shot put F34 final – Bhagyashree Jadhav finished fifth with a best throw of 7.28m
  • Para Archery: Women’s individual recurve open 1/8 elimination  – Pooja beat Sengul Yagmur of Turkey 6-0.
  • Para Shooting: Women’s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 (Final) – Avani Lekhara finished fifth in the medal round of the event with a total score of 420.6.
  • Para Archery: Women’s individual recurve open quarterfinal  – Pooja went down 4-6 to Wu Chunyan of China.
  • Para Athletics: Women’s 400m T20 final  – Deepthi Jeevanji clinched bronze with a time of 55.82 seconds.
  • Para Athletics: Men’s high jump T63 final – Sharad Kumar, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Shailesh Kumar: Sharad and Mariyappan picked up the silver-bonze double with showings of 1.88m and 1.85m. Shailesh finished fourth.
  • Para Athletics: Men’s javelin throw F46 final – Ajeet Singh Yadav, Rinku and Sundar Singh Gurjar: Ajeet Singh came in second with a best of 65.62m, while Sundar Gurjar finished third with an SB of 64.96m Rinku posted an SB of 61.58m to finish fifth.
