Pakistan will face Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home. The series opener scheduled to take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will start on Wednesday (August 21), and the second red-ball match will also take place at the same venue from August 30 to September 3. Karachi was set to host the second Test, but due to ongoing construction work at the National Stadium, PCB decided to change the venue on Sunday (August 18).

Pakistan suffered a 0-3 whitewash in the last Test series played against Australia, and the Shan Masood-led side will be desperate to come up with a big show in front of home fans. A win over Bangladesh will not only help the Pakistani team bring a smile back to fans faces, but it will also keep its hopes alive of reaching the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final.

During the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, Pakistan will have a chance to join India and Australia on an elite list. If Pakistan manages to whitewash Bangladesh in front of home fans, then it will become the sixth team in history to win 150 Test matches. Pakistan, which played its first Test in 1952 against India, has won 148 out of 456 matches played so far.

Australia holds the record for winning the most Tests in history. The Baggy Greens have won 414 out of 866 matches played so far.

Australia is followed by England, which has won 395 out of 1074 Tests. The West Indies is in third place with 183 wins in 580 Tests, followed by South Africa and India, which have won 179 and 178 Tests, respectively.

Most wins in Tests

  • Australia – 414
  • England – 395
  • West Indies – 183
  • South Africa – 179
  • India – 178
  • Pakistan – 148
  • New Zealand – 115
  • Sri Lanka – 103
  • Bangladesh – 19
  • Zimbabwe – 13
  • Afghanistan – 3
  • Ireland – 2

Pakistan has played 13 Tests against Bangladesh so far and managed to win 12 of them. Going by the records, it shouldn’t be a big issue for Pakistan to get the better of Bangladesh in the upcoming two matches.

After facing Bangladesh, Pakistan will take on England in a three-match Test series at home in October. The Poms will prepare for the Pakistan Tests by facing Sri Lanka in a three-match Test series at home. The first Test between England and Sri Lanka is scheduled to take place at Old Trafford in Manchester from Wednesday (August 21).

If England manages to whitewash Sri Lanka and then win at least two Tests against Pakistan, then it will become only the second team in history after Australia to win 400 Test matches.
