The Ministry of Education has officially released the 9th edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for the year 2024 today, August 12. The rankings have been made available at nirfindia.org, the NIRF’s official website. In the university category, IISc Bangalore took the top rank, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in second place same as last year.
Sixteen categories—including overall, colleges, universities, research institutions, management, engineering, pharmacy, dental, medical, legal, agricultural and related industries, architectural and planning, open universities, skill universities, state public universities, and innovation—will be used to rank the institutes across the nation.

This year, the Indian Institute of Madras (IIT Madras) ranked first in the country’s ‘overall’ category for the sixth consecutive year. Meanwhile, Miranda House slipped down by one spot in the College rankings for 2024 with Hindu College taking the top spot. IIT Madras took top place, followed by IIT Delhi in second place and IIT Bombay in third place in the engineering category. Additionally, in the field of management, IIM Ahmedabad took the lead, followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode in second and third place, respectively.
