From Neeraj Chopra’s SIlver to the Indian Hockey Team claiming their second consecutive Bronze, here is all that transpired in the Indian contingent on Day 13 ( August 8) of the Paris Olympics.

Glory comes to those who wait, and the Indian contingent had waited long enough to find their next few medals, in what was a historic outing for the Indians at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.

The Indian Hockey team brought home the glory yet again, after an intense battle with Spain that ended 2-1 in favour of the Indians, thereby grabbing the Bronze medal yet again, following their same finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

This was followed with a heartbreaking yet a historic Silver from Neeraj Chopra, who was outdone by Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem with an Olympic Record-setting throw.

But, at the end of the day, there were finally more medals added to India’s tally, which now went up to 5 including 4 Bronzes and 1 Silver.

Women’s Golf:

Indian golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar were at tied-14th in the 60-player field after two rounds at the Paris Olympics women’ golf competition.

Aditi played 1-under 71 after a first round 72 and Diksha was even at 72 after a first round 71. At 1-under each for 36 holes, the Indian duo was Tied-14 in the 60-player field, which has no cut.

Women’s 100m Hurdles Repechage:

Jyothi Yarraji would face heartbreak yet again, as she would end up finishing 4th in her repechage heat and hence, miss out on progressing.

Men’s Freestyle 57kg:

Young Indian grappler Aman Sehrawat ensured himself an easy passage into the quarterfinal with a dominating performance against North Macedonian rival Vladimir Egorov in the 57kg freestyle category at the Paris Olympics.

But, the grappler’s luck would run out soon in embarrasing fashion too, as he was beaten 0-10 by Japanese grappler Higuchi Rei in the semifinal.

Women’s Freestyle 57kg:

Woman grappler Anshu Malik displayed great determination but could not breach the defence of USA’s vastly experienced Helen Louise Maroulis, losing 2-7 in the 57kg pre-quarterfinals.

It was a rematch of the 2021 World Championship final in Oslo where Anshu had to settle for silver against the American.

Anshu’s hopes of qualifying for the bronze-medal bout now hinge on ‘repechage’, which the Indian qualified for.

Men’s Hockey:

After ending a decades-long wait for an Olympic medal in Tokyo, the Indian Hockey Team has achieved Olympic success yet again, clinching the Bronze medal with a fiery 2-1 win over Spain at the Paris Olympics.

A goal from Spain skipper Marc Miralles opened the scoring, following which Indian skipper Harmanpreet Singh provided two goals of his own later on to power India to yet another bronze medal.

Men’s Javelin Throw:

Heartbreak entailed but that of the easier kind to digest as Neeraj Chopra clinched a historic hard-fought Silver in the Men’s Javelin Throw event at the Paris Olympics.

The dynamite reigning champion battled it out with Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who would ultimately get the better of Neeraj with an Olympic Record throw of 92.97m, whilst the Indian would register a season-best of 89.45m for the Silver.
