Sharmila Tagore: Kareena’s presence gives me comfort, she is like my daughter – Special! – times of India

Sharmila Tagore’s last role was Imran Khan And Deepika Padukone2010 romantic comedy, ‘Break Ke Baad’. It has been 11 years and cinema connoisseurs are surely looking forward to see the senior actress make a comeback. Talking about the possibility of returning to films, Sharmila says, “I can work but not till the third wave is over. I have left some films because I have some ailments and my doctors don’t allow me to work. I got some very tempting offers, I declined them. I even told them that if you stay, I’ll do it early next year.

She may have taken a long sabbatical, but she still has the pulse of showbiz. She comments that OTT is the place she is most excited for. She says, “I want to work in the OTT sector. You feel that flexibility; Everyone of our age is watching him at home and going to the theater is only for movie lovers and youngsters. Of course, watching a film in the theater has a different feel and I am not taking it bullshit at all.”

She has been the chairman of the CBFC between 2005 and 2011, and has also handled production responsibilities on a film titled 1977. ‘sacrifice’. Through his experience, he has a deep understanding of cinema and its dynamics. She adds, “Look what happened in Europe, all the old people want to watch the movie with their feet up after a hard day’s work. You really don’t want to put that much effort to go to the theatre. But the young go to all the theatres. And films are being made for them and they are targeting that age.”

Speaking about the way he has progressed during his life and career, Sharmila says, “I watched ‘Yeh Dillagi’ and even his old interviews were very funny. He became a mature person. He is the father of four kids and has become a great chef. He has developed good hobbies like reading. He is a good father and a good cook.” She adds that the COVID lockdown and the resulting changes have also affected the time they meet and spend together. She adds, “Hopefully Kovid will leave us soon.”

But the apple of Sharmila’s eye is none other than her daughter-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan. She can’t stop talking about Bebo. She says, ‘I love him very much. His special thing is that he is very calm. I have seen him interact with his staff, his barber and designer. I would sometimes pounce on my hairdresser if we were called and I would say hurry up, but not Kareena. What Sharmila appreciates the most is Kareena’s restraint and attitude. She says, “She is very patient and I love that about Kareena. Her presence calms me down. She doesn’t compare herself to anyone. She does her own thing. I am so happy that she is my daughter-in-law.” She says, ‘I am like your daughter’. I say, ‘Yes you are’.”
