KL Rahul said that batsmen get excited after seeing such wickets as Lucknow Supergiants beat Punjab Kings by 56 runs to score the second highest IPL score

KL Rahul was jubilant as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 56 runs in match number 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Punjab. Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium Mohali on Friday.

He said, ‘It is against the T20 trend. Can’t point a finger at it. Glad we got the win,” said KL Rahul after the win.

“From now on every game will be very important. We took a break after the last game. We came back fresh after that,” he said.

Batting first, LSG posted 257 with contributions from Kyle Mayers (54 off 24 balls), Marcus Stoinis (72 off 40 balls), Ayush Badoni (43 off 24 balls) and Nicholas Pooran (45 off 19 balls). Made a great score of /5. Apart from being the second highest total in IPL history, it was also the highest score of the season.

The record for the highest total in the history of the tournament is held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), their score of 263/5, which they managed against Pune Warriors on 23 April 2013 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

“We were clear how to bat. When you see wickets like these, you get excited as a batsman. To score 250 tells how we batted. You are familiar with what to expect. Just being familiar with the wickets helps,” said KL.

“We always talk about setting the tone in the beginning. We had guys like Mayer, Stoinis. Badoni is batting well. Hooda too,” he said.

Individually, Rahul scored just 12 runs from 9 balls and was the only batsman who could not make use of the ideal batting conditions. He was dropped on the very first ball of the match by debutant Gurnoor Brar, but could not make it count.

In reply, PBKS were all out for 201 in 19.5 overs, with Atharva Tayde scoring 66 off 36 balls.

“The think tank mostly thinks and I try to understand what they are thinking. And if it suits us, we go ahead with the plan,” said Keel.
