Expressways are developing rapidly in India. Minister of Road Transport and Highways – Nitin Gadkari, has been vocal about the new age road infrastructure of the country, which will help in the growing economy. Gadkari shared pictures of the recently opened Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway, which has been developed under the Bharatmala project. The minister’s tweet reveals that the expressway has been constructed at a total cost of Rs 8,478 crore. In addition, the expressway gets a 6-lane carriageway, and 2-lane service roads on both sides. The 10-lane access-controlled expressway is approximately 120 kilometers long, and is claimed to reduce travel time between the two cities to just 90 minutes.

The expressway will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12. Earlier, Nitin Gadkari said, “Chennai and Bengaluru are the most important metro cities of the country. The expressway reduces the distance by 38 km and reduces the travel time from five hours to 2.15 hours. will reduce it by six. per cent. We are also considering a forest underpass in the Bannerghatta forest area. If there is a dense forest, we will redo the route. He further said that Karnataka is an important state and traffic in Bengaluru De-crowding will be considered. The introduction of double decker sky bus with a capacity of 200 passengers will also be considered.
Apart from this, the minister had said a few days back that before the end of 2024, Uttar Pradesh would have road infrastructure like America and with the development of roads, the picture of the state would change. Gadkari said that UP would become the leading state of the country and called upon the farmers to become the provider of food as well as energy. Earlier, Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for seven national highway projects worth Rs 6,500 crore at Chitbargaon here. Gadkari said, “The condition of roads in UP was not good before the year 2014. After the Narendra Modi government came to power, the national highways in the state have increased from 7,643 km to 13,000 km.”
