In what was an exciting final day of Test cricket, New Zealand defied the odds to level the two-match series at 1-1 against England
Dramatic scenes unfolded on the final day of the second Test match between New Zealand and England at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. New Zealand became only the second team in the history of Test cricket to win the competition by just one run as they overcame the Ben Stokes-led side.
The nerve-wracking Test sent shockwaves across the cricket fraternity with several current and former cricketers expressing their shock.
India offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin was one of them, who was amazed by the style and manner of New Zealand’s victory. Ashwin recalled the iconic 2005 Edgbaston Ashes Test while talking about New Zealand’s win.

For the unversed, England had bowled out Australia for 279 in the second innings of that Test to record a thrilling two-run victory. English pacer Steve Harmison took the wicket of Michael Kasprowicz in that game to seal a famous victory at the time.
On Tuesday, Kiwi pacer Neil Wagner dismissed James Anderson in similar fashion to ensure a memorable win for his team.
“My bad! A repeat of the Edgbaston 2005 Ashes Test. Throttle down the leg side to win by 2 runs and get the last man out,” Ashwin wrote on Twitter.
