Naming Commission: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition seeking setting up of a ‘commission for renaming’. A petition was filed before the apex court to constitute a ‘Naming Commission’ to find out the original names of ‘ancient historical cultural religious places’.
Questioning the purpose of the PIL seeking a ‘renaming commission’, the SC said it would keep alive issues that would keep the country on the boil. The Supreme Court, while dismissing the PIL, said, ‘The history of the country should not disturb its present and future generations.’ The court further said that ‘our country is secular and Hindutva is a way of life, which has assimilated everyone’.
