The new Ultra is also likely to feature MicroLED display technology, which will offer higher brightness, lower power consumption and better contrast ratio.

According to media reports, Apple will reportedly launch a new ‘Apple Watch Ultra’ next year with a larger 2.1-inch display. As MacRumors reports, this is in line with information shared last month by analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities.

The current Watch Ultra has a screen of around 1.93 inches, so, the 2024 model is likely to have a display around 10 percent larger. The new wearable is expected to be the first Apple Watch with a case size greater than 50mm.

The new Ultra is also likely to feature MicroLED display technology, which will offer higher brightness, lower power consumption and better contrast ratio than the existing models with OLED displays.

The iPhone maker’s transition to the technology could take several years to complete as MicroLED display production costs are currently high, the report said.

Last month, Pu also said that he expects Apple Watch sales to decline in 2023 due to a “lack of significant spec upgrades.”
