New Delhi: Bihar Janata Dal (United) MLC Ghulam Rasool Balyavi has courted controversy by saying that ‘we will turn every city into Karbala’ and that he is ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of humanity and brotherhood. Defending his controversial statement, the JDU leader said that people from the Muslim community were being labeled as terrorists and put behind bars and called for bringing a “Muslim Protection Act” to protect the community.

Ghulam Rasool Balyavi was quoted as saying by ANI, ‘I agree that I had said that we will turn (cities) into Karbala and I stand by it.



“At present our children are being picked up as terrorists in the country and kept behind bars for 18-20 years. When our children go to protest, they are shot dead. Protecting the rights of Muslims,” ​​he said. (U) said the leader.



JDU MLC Ghulam Rasool Balyavi gave a controversial statement on Thursday in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Taking a dig at expelled BJP leader Nupur Sharma, he said, “If you put your hands on the glory of my master (master), then we have gathered at Karbala Maidan and for his glory we will make the cities Karbala.”

He further alleged that no party calling itself secular demanded the arrest of Nupur Sharma. At the rally, he demanded a Muslim Protection Act on the lines of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

He said, “Safety Act should be made to protect Muslims like Dalits. We should have participation in power. Our children should get employment. Dowry should be abolished.”
