Twitter appears to have removed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tweet that revealed the identity of relatives of a minor rape and murder victim in Delhi. A Delhi-based lawyer Vineet Jindal on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly disclosing the identity of the Nangal rape victim from Delhi.
Advocate Vineet Jindal, appearing for advocate, in his complaint said that the Congress MP shared his photograph with the victim’s father and mother from his Twitter handle @RahulGandhi, revealing the identity of the minor victim.
The complainant requested the Delhi Police to register an FIR against Rahul Gandhi under relevant sections and take strict legal action. The complaint further states that Rahul Gandhi’s act is an offense under Section 23 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 228A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) .
In the same case, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Tuesday also issued notice to Twitter India to take action against the Twitter handle of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly violating Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO). NCPCR chairman Priyank Kanungo said on Twitter that the child rights body took action after taking cognizance of reports that the Congress leader had sabotaged the identity of the minor rape victim by posting a picture of her parents on the microblogging site. Gave.
On Wednesday morning, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met the family of the minor girl, who was allegedly raped, murdered and cremated without her parents’ consent, at Delhi’s Old Nangal crematorium.
After meeting the family, he assured the family of cooperation. Rahul Gandhi also tweeted about their meeting and shared a picture of himself with the victim’s parents on Twitter.
A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a priest and three employees of a cremation ground near Delhi Cantonment in south-west Delhi’s Purana Nangal area on August 1, police said.
The Delhi Police registered a case against the four accused based on the statement of the minor’s mother, who alleged that her daughter was raped, murdered and cremated on Sunday without her consent.
The accused persons have been booked under sections 302, 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act.
