Gold Medal Alert | Watch – Narwal, Francis win mixed team event at Chateauroux 2022 World Cup

The World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in Chateauroux proved to be a great day for the Indian contingent, with the pair of Manish Narwal and Rubina Francis winning the 10m P6 air pistol mixed team event to clinch another gold medal for India. Total number three.

Narwal and Francis, who achieved a world record qualifying score of 565 to enter the top-placed final, defeated the Chinese pair of Yang Chao and Min Lee 17-11 in the title clash.

The Indian pair scored a total of 274.3 runs. Tokyo Paralympic gold medalist Narwal scored 138.7 in the last six shots. He made consistent scores of 10 and 9, but Francis also matched his favorite teammate with 9s, some 8s and 10s.

China’s Chao Char was impressive with a 10 but Min stumbled in crucial moments.

Narwal, Singhraj Adhana, Rahul Jakhar and Akash will meet next Thursday in the P4 – Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event.

On Tuesday, Sriharsha Devardi Ramakrishna became the second Indian para shooter to secure a quota for the Paris Paralympics after securing a gold medal in the mixed 10m air rifle SH2 event.

Ramakrishna produced a final score of 253.1 to claim the yellow metal, while Slovakia’s Francesc Tirsek (252.6) and Tangue de la Forest (230.3) won the silver and bronze.

Ramakrishna thus followed the exceptional performance of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic champion Avani Lekhara, who set a new world record to win the gold medal.

R2 – In the women’s 10m air rifle standings final, 20-year-old Lekhara from Rajasthan broke her own world record of 249.6 with a final score of 250.6 and won the gold medal ahead of Poland’s Emilia Babaska (247.6) and Anna. Norman of Sweden (225.6).

“This event is very important for me as it is the first event after Tokyo. It will help me understand the progress that I have made in various aspects, which I have been working on since then,” said Lekhara of India’s Paralympics. Told the Committee (PCI).

“This is also my first international event with my new equipment and it will help me analyze my game further and need to know further adjustments!

“Her goal for the year is to constantly analyze my game and make small improvements,” said two-time Tokyo 2020 medalist Lekhara.
“It is my goal to be a consistent shooter and hopefully win medals in the future as well.”

India has been represented by 13 para shooters in this season’s first World Cup in Chateauroux, France.
