The body of an unidentified person was found hanging from a tree on Friday evening in the forest area of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), police said. Police was informed about the body at around 6.30 pm, he said.
When the police inspected the spot, a dead body was found in a highly mutilated condition hanging from a tree in the forest area. A senior police officer said that the victim appears to be in the age group of 40-45.
Crime and forensic team has been called on the spot for investigation. The body has not yet been identified. Police said that the process of questioning has been started. University sources said: “It seems that the body does not belong to someone from JNU. The body was found in the forest near Yamuna Hostel. Some of the students had gone for a walk in the forest, where they felt foul smell and informed the authorities.
