1. Refusing to have sex, not wrong
According to the NFHS-5 report, 80% of women believed that a wife could refuse to have sex if she was tired or in a bad mood. If the husband has a sexually transmitted disease or if the husband has a relationship with another woman, then the wife can refuse to have a sexual relationship. The special thing is that 66% of men have accepted this decision of women as right.
Goa (92%) has the highest number of women saying no to sex, while Jammu and Kashmir (65%) and Arunachal Pradesh (63%) have the least. However, 8% of women and 10% of men do not agree that a wife can refuse to have sex with her husband for any reason. According to NFHS-5, more than 29% of women in the country still face physical or sexual violence by their husbands.
2. Fewer people justified for forcing the wife
To find out gender attitudes, men were asked in the survey – whether the man got angry and scolded the wife for refusing to have physical relations with the wife, not giving money to the wife for household expenses, beating, wife Forced to have sex against her will or get the right to have a relationship with another woman? 6% of men in the 15-49 age group believed that they could exercise these options if the wife did not ask for sex, while 72% of the men justified none of these options. At the same time, 19% of the men said that the husband has the right to get angry or scold the wife after the wife refuses to have a physical relationship.
3. Right or wrong to beat husband?
As awareness of women’s health, independence and career is increasing around the world, the NFHS-5 survey has revealed yet another shocking discovery. In the survey, 44% of the men believe that it is right to beat the wife. Surprisingly, even 45% of women believe this to be true. The number of women justifying assault has decreased by 7% compared to the previous survey. In the case of men, this number has increased by 2%.
4. Only 32% Married Women Are Employed
According to the survey, 32% of married women in the country have a job. Of these, 15% of women do not get their salary in their hands, while 14% of women do not even ask where their earned money was spent. 32% of married women who have a job are between the ages of 15-49, while 98% of the men in the same age group have a job. However, in the previous NFHS survey, this rate was 31%.
5. Daughter-in-law are not allowed to go out alone
According to the NFHS-5 report, there are still a large number of women in the country who are not allowed to go out of the house alone. Only 56% of women are allowed to go to market alone, 52% to hospital and 50% outside their village or community. Overall, only 42% of women in the country are allowed to go alone to all these places, while only 5% of women have been allowed to travel anywhere alone.
6. Population rate under control
According to the NFHS-5 report, the population rate in India has come under control. The country now has an average of 2 children per woman, as against the average number of children per woman in the last survey at 2.2. At the same time, the number of people using contraceptives has also increased from 54% to 67%.
7. Women becoming obese
In the 2015-16 survey, 21% of women were overweight. Now the number of such women has increased to more than 24%. In men, this figure has increased from 19% to 23%.
8. Improvement in social status
According to the NFHS-5 report, 91% of women in cities and 87% in rural areas have their own opinion on important household decisions. 79% of women have a bank account, whereas 4 years ago only 53% of women had their own bank account.

As the age of women in the country increases, domestic violence against them also increases. According to the survey, 17% of women in the age group of 18 to 19 years are victims of domestic violence, while 32% of women in the age group of 40-49 years are facing this.
10. People who are serious about hygiene
Since the Corona epidemic, women have become cautious about the health of their families. According to the NFHS-5 report, 78% people in the country have now made the habit of washing hands, as compared to 60% in the previous survey.
