Japan widens Covid-19 curbs as Omicron drives record infections
Japan on Wednesday widened COVID-19 restrictions in the capital Tokyo and covered half the population in a dozen regions as the Omicron version of the coronavirus recorded new infections. Already in effect in three regions, the measures, lasting from Friday to February 13, were made official by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida after receiving a sign-off from an expert panel earlier in the day. read more
