India’s Kovid-19 Vaccination Campaign
On January 16 last year, a nationwide vaccination campaign began, with health workers (HCWs) being the first to be immunised. Frontline workers (FLWs) were vaccinated from February 2, 2021.
The second phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 of last year for adults above 60 years of age as well as those aged 45 years and above with certain co-morbid disorders.
From April 1, 2021, everyone over the age of 45 will be vaccinated.
Therefore, the government has decided to widen its vaccination drive, allowing anyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated from May 1.
The next round of COVID-19 vaccination for adolescents aged 15 to 18 began on January 3 this year.
