Artwork of Kumbh-19 will be restored : PDA | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: The murals and artefacts which were painted and installed to enhance the beauty of Sangam city before Kumbh-2019 will be looked after by an expert agency. These murals and artifacts were made on various streets and squares of the city but were left neglected with dust, partial damage and faded paint telling a sad story.
However, now the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has started efforts to repair and maintain the murals, sculptures and other artefacts put up at 60 prominent places in the city.
The PDA has started looking for an agency that will repair, and maintain these works of art over the next five years, including the crucial period of Mahakumbh-2025.
PDA vice-chairman Arvind Kumar Chauhan said, “The Prayagraj Development Authority had invited e-bids and the technical bids were opened on December 14 at 11.30 am in the PDA meeting hall with technical presentations.”
“Now the second round of presentation is about to be held. The aim of the exercise is to maintain the aesthetic value of all 60 locations of Prayagraj, thereby contributing to the beautification of the city,” said Chouhan.
The selected firm will undertake regular maintenance and periodic renovation work to maintain murals, sculptures or similar art works at 60 pre-determined locations.
He added that the firm will also undertake structural repairs and take care of leaks and maintain focus lights (electrical fitment) and railings where these constructions are housed.
Its additional responsibility will be to maintain and maintain the plants/plants within the green area around the crossing.
Before Kumbh’19, Prayagraj was given a facelift. A new airport terminal came up a few days before the start of the mega religious fair.
Then, on roadside walls, on the pillars of flyovers and bridges, and even on tree trunks across the city, events from the Ramayana and Mahabharata were depicted with a pet theme for these murals.
At each of the main squares, large sculptures and some art installations were built on the theme ‘Spiritual, cultural, religious and mythological aspects of Kumbh and other rich heritage of Uttar Pradesh’.
